Most people ask “how can my website generate more business?” or “What can I do to bring traffic to my website?” – The answer to both of these questions is viral content! The content that generates buzz doesn’t merely refer to text –  image and video are also content. So, how can hoteliers create content that produces direct bookings? Surprisingly, many hoteliers are missing the target here – most do not take time to ensure the quality of their content. A website that lacks the substance of high quality can do more harm than good for the hotel.‍

Quality content will turn lookers into bookers – but, how will you get the lookers to your site? It takes viral content to create a buzz – a buzz loud enough to set you apart from the crowd! Today, it is more about telling a story than merely making a promise to your guests. As the travel industry began to grow, inspiring content went viral.

The standards were set high by certain brands. The surprise KLM gave their passengers was one of those. This airline used social media to generate a lot of buzz – check it out here! So, why can’t hoteliers create a buzz like this? Hoteliers can – even if they’ on a budget – it only takes some creativity!

Emotional Appeal

Viral content success stories all have one thing in common – they trigger emotions! Emotional appeal captures the attention and builds relationships that can last a lifetime. Think about the most memorable ad you’ve seen? What feeling (s) did it trigger? Whether your video/image/text is emotional, happy, funny, exciting, or inspiring it should speak to your target – don’t forget that!‍

Speak to Your Target

Hoteliers must study their market, identify their goal, and create content that speaks to that traveler. The traveler could be the busy professional who books mobile, the young adventurous traveler who checks reviews and checks his/her Facebook every hour, or the mom who plans the whole trip herself – it’s essential to choose a target as each of these travelers have different needs, wants, and buying criteria. By identifying the interests, needs, and desires of your target, you will be able to give your target share-worthy content. If you provide material that is memorable or useful, the traveler will be likely to share with friends and family members – this is how your content will go viral.

Time Matters

Yes! The timing of your content release should be considered. According to tnooz, planning your content release with time-bound factors like holidays and events will increase the likelihood of your content going viral.

Visual appeal is a good idea to have a designer create your graphics. Remember, a visual appeal is your first impression. Also, the placement of content and color scheme play a huge role! Don’t forget that colors also trigger emotions.

Distribution Via Social Media

Thanks to social media, content can be shared with millions of people. You can post to your profile or pay for some promoted posts or ads – if done right, you can get a huge ROI!
