The content that generates buzz doesn’t simply refer to text –  image and video are also content. So, how can hoteliers create content that generates direct bookings? Viral content success stories all have one thing in common – they trigger emotions! Emotional appeal captures the attention and builds relationships that can last a lifetime. Think about the most memorable ad you’ve seen? What emotion(s) did it trigger? Whether your video/image/text is emotional, happy, funny, exciting, or inspiring it should speak to your target – don’t forget that!

Speak to Your Target

Hoteliers must study their market, identify their target, and create content that speaks to that traveler. The traveler could be the busy professional who books mobile, the young adventurous traveler who checks reviews and checks his/her Facebook every hour, or the mom who plans the whole trip herself – it’s important to choose a target as each of these travelers has different needs, wants, and buying criteria. By identifying the interests, needs, and wants of your target, you will be able give your target share-worthy content. If you provide content that is memorable or useful, the traveler will be likely to share with friends and family members – this is how your content will go viral.
