Web/SEO Copywriter

Position Overview

This is a full-time, entry-level position. As part of our Search Engine Marketing team, Web/SEO Copywriter works with clients, SEO analysts, and production staff to compose unique website copy based on defined marketing strategies and client goals, as well as edits of existing content to achieve high “natural/organic” search engine placement. The copywriter is responsible for writing copy for all client marketing initiatives including websites, pay-per-click (PPC) ads, press releases, newsletters, blog posts, along with in-house printed sales & marketing materials. The copywriter must be versatile with the ability to write unique, compelling website copy that will engage visitors.

The ideal candidate must have experience writing/editing website and online content using supplied keywords, excellent editing and accurate proofreading skills, excellent client/staff interaction skills, a good understanding of Web 2.0 (social networking, blogging, Wikis), be very Internet savvy, well organized with ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize daily workload, and do extensive Internet research. A basic understanding of HTML editing software (Dreamweaver) is ideal but not required.

This is an entry-level position!

Essential Job Functions

    • Compose, edit, upload text during site design process
    • Compose keyword rich text under direction of SEO analyst
    • Compose press releases and text for marketing communications on an as needed basis
    • Proofread site content prior to launch
    • Write PPC ads (Google, Yahoo)
    • Topic research (city guide, points of interest)
    • Attend client design meetings
    • Working knowledge of HTML editing using Dreamweaver

Qualifications

    • 1-2 years experience copywriting, editing and proofing copy
    • Minimum AA/AS in English, Journalism, Communications, Advertising or related field
    • Excellent writing and English language skills
    • Internet/Web 2.0 savvy
    • Excellent phone skills (interfacing with clients)
    • Ability to organize content and respond to client / staff emails in a timely manner
    • Working knowledge of IE and/or Firefox, Google search and maps, web-related terminology and basic familiarity with HTML.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word/Excel/Outlook)
    • Type 50+ WPM
    • Flexibility, fit into an entrepreneurial environment

Other Skills/Abilities (preferred, but not required)

    • Experience writing travel-related web content
    • Hotel/Hospitality industry related experience


    This is a full-time entry-level staff position at our offices in El Monte, California, 10 minutes east of downtown Los Angeles. Applicants who do not have legal permission to work in the United States will not be considered. Only local candidates will be considered.
