Senior Web Designer

 

Job Description

The Senior Web Designer will supervise a team of 3-4 specialists and actively participate in all aspects of the project including, but not limited to: graphical elements, site and content layout, navigation & roll-over effects, images, and other multimedia/animation elements as required. The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work as part of a team, and meet tight completion deadlines.

Essential Job Functions

    • Participate in the design/development process while leading a team of 3-4 specialists

    • Juggle multiple design projects while maintaining deadlines

    • Design original pixel-perfect web layouts, mockups & graphics with PhotoShop/ImageReady using current and emerging graphic and GUI design trends

    • Slice Photoshop mock-ups to create HTML pages with Dreamweaver

    • Hand-code HTML, XHTML, and CSS to W3C standards

    • Positioning layouts with CSS in place of tables, JavaScript, and ActionScript

    • Create CSS style page templates for client review/approval

    • Build-out web pages/sites from start to finish

    • Certify all projects for cross-browser compatibility and web standards

    • Perform site maintenance functions as needed

Qualifications

    • Minimum BS/BA in graphic design or equivalent ability
    • Comfortable working in a PC environment
    • Good supervisory/people skills with ability to participate and lead a team of 3-4 specialists
    • Ability to balance multiple projects and their respective production timelines
    • Understanding of production environment and workflow
    • Ability to resolve problems/issues on own, or know how to ask for help when needed
    • Solid PhotoShop, ImageReady and Dreamweaver skills
    • Solid HTML, XHTML, and CSS hand-coding skills to W3C standards
    • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
    • MS office suite proficiency; Outlook, Word,  Excel (PowerPoint a plus but not required)
    • Basic understanding of Server-side scripting languages (ASP a plus but not required)
    • Knowledge of JavaScript & AJAX (a plus by not required)
    • Flexibility, fit into an entrepreneurial environment
    • Familiarity with SCRUM (huge plus but not required)

    This is a full-time staff position at our offices in El Monte CA, 10 minutes east of downtown Los Angeles. Applicants who do not have legal permission to work in the United States will not be considered. Local candidates only, no phone calls please.
